Back in 2005, a friend gave me this first edition (1940) copy of Goudy's "Typologia: Studies in Type Design and Type Making". In it, he discusses the history of type, his methods of producing type, as well as the story of his exclusive typeface for the University of Caiforna, which the book is set in. If things like "attention to detail" and "fine craftsmanship" mean anything to you, this book is definitely worth seeking out.
